The name is inspired by the Greek goddess Hemera who symbolizes the light of the day, a tribute to the culture of Magna Graecia but also to the geographical position of Salento, the easternmost part of Italy which is the first to witness the sunrise.

Tenute Eméra is the largest of the Claudio Quarta Vignaiolo wineries, with its 80 hectares of property: a large vineyard close to the Ionian Sea, in the heart of the Primitivo di Manduria DOP in Lizzano, in Puglia.
