Tasting Note

Rieslingfreak No.5, like the No.3, is made with grapes from the family vineyard in White Hutt, Clare Valley. Grapes chosen for the No.5 are harvested from a specially-selected block with lighter, sandier soils compared to the rest of the vineyard. Grapes from this block create lighter-bodied wines with more delicate fruit flavours – perfect for Off-Dry style Riesling.

The grapes for No.5 are harvested earlier in the season, to provide a wine that is higher in natural acidity to balance the residual sugar inherent to the style. As grape acidity is weather dependent, the acid level varies with vintage; causing the residual sugar to also vary to ensure balance is achieved in the finished wine. Depending on the season, the residual sugar in the No.5 typically falls between 11-15g/L, providing a fruit driven style with a hint of sweetness and a crisp, clean finish. The No.5 drinks well on release, or will reward with cellaring.

Rieslingfreak is all about Riesling, producing Rieslings from different regions, and different styles. A number is used to identify each wine. The number represents both region and style. Surrounded by this great vineyard, and being inspired by my old man’s cellar, I was educated on the Riesling grape. Dad had many Rieslings in his cellar. Rieslings from all around the world, covering a number of regions, and many different styles. Being surround by a great vineyard, and an evolving wine cellar, my passion for Riesling grew. After spending a number of years in the wine industry, completing many vintages, and being mentored by some of Australia’s top winemakers, I ventured out by myself to form Rieslingfreak. Growing up on an old Riesling vineyard, situated in Penwortham, Clare Valley. The vineyard previously owned by Spencer George, with the Riesling grape going into the Skillogalee late picked Riesling. The vineyard was acquired by the Hughes Family in 1984.

We provide free delivery to anywhere in Hong Kong for orders over HK$1,000 otherwise a delivery charge of HK$80 will apply when you require delivery service.

For deliveries to outlying islands, door-to-door service is not available and customers are required to pick up at the pier on the delivery date.

  • HK Island - Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday (except Southside) 
  • Kowloon - Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday
  • New Territories (Inc. DB & Tung Chung) - Monday & Thursday
  • Southside - Tuesday & Friday
  • Outlying Islands (Inc. South Lantau) - Thursday (Drop off at pier only)

Please allow 3 working days for delivery, although we will do our upmost to get your wines to you as quickly as possible.

We will not be able to deliver unless you provide a valid home phone or mobile phone number so that we can arrange delivery details with you.

South Lantau: If you require door-to-door delivery, our South Lantau delivery contractor can access some addresses. Feel free to contact us with your address to see if we can help. An additional charge of HK$60 per case of 12 bottles applies.

Country Parks: Please inform us if we need special access to your address. We will provide the vehicle licence plate on day of delivery for your entry application.

Self Collection

Customers who wish to self collect their orders from our warehouse or sales office can do so at the below addresses and times. Please note that we do not hold any stock in our Sales Office so orders need to be made at least 24hrs in advance.
