With its beautiful deep crimson color, this wine releases aromas of cassis and violets along with scents of toast and vanilla. On the palate the attack is fleshy and supple, giving way to a dense, well-structured middle palate. The elegant, long-lasting finish is enhanced by beautifully mellow mature notes. Thanks to the power and complexity of this wine it has great ageing potential.

The vines of Château Castera have been in existence since the 14th century, making them some of the oldest in all of the Médoc region. Located in the town of Saint-Germain-d’Esteuil, north of Saint-Estèphe and in the heart of the Médoc, the property covers 185 hectares (462 acres), of which approximately 63 hectares (148 acres) are under vine. Today the name Château Castera is a synonym for quality.

In 1986, Carl E. Press and Dieter Tondera get together to buy the Château Castera. Following the withdrawal of Dieter Tondera in 2010, Thomas C. Press, the son of Carl E. Press, takes control of the property. He breathes new life into it the vineyard, focusing on quality and on the reputation of the famous castle. The final touch of restoration is given to the tower and its renovation is completed in 2011.
