A dark-skinned wine grape from the hills of northwestern Italy. Dolcetto produces soft, fruity wines with colours varying from deep ruby to purple.
Dolcetto wines are usually bright and intense in colour with a gentle, spicy aroma. Despite meaning 'Little Sweet One', Dolcetto wines are normally a little tart with with black fruit flavours and an earthy, nutty undertone.
A great food wine that goes well with richer, darker meats and vegetable dishes with roasted tomatoes, eggplant, chickpeas and garlic as well as salmon or spaghetti.
